Graduate Spotlight: Dorathy Tarpeh

Meet Dorathy, she is originally from Monrovia, the capital city of the West African country of Liberia. Dorathy settled in San Antonio in 2016 and later enrolled in SPC’s Pre-Nursing program in January 2017. She received a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Certificate in December 2018 and will be receiving an Associate of Applied Science (AAS).

Throughout her time at SPC, Dorathy received several scholarships including the SPC Presidential Scholarship, Alamo Colleges District Masters Leadership Program Scholarship, the National Association of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Title Ill Administrators Scholarship and a scholarship through Project QUEST.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at SPC. There are many opportunities here and everyone on campus has been extremely friendly and helpful in my journey,” she said.

Dorathy will be transferring to Wayland Baptist University where she hopes to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is currently employed at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital as an LVN in the telemetry unit where she works closely with patients in need of cardiac care.

“I hope to ultimately work in Behavior Health or with Mental Illness and have an impact on individuals in my community,” said Dorathy.
